Powering the Future of Light Electric Mobility
The global shift toward sustainable mobility is accelerating – and SEG Automotive’s Light Electric Mobility (LEM) division is a strong motor driving this transformation.
With a strong focus on 48V–96V systems, we are strategically positioned to meet the fast-growing demand for electrification across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and compact four-wheeler segments.
Our approach is built around deep market insights and evolving customer needs –developing for today while anticipating tomorrow. Core competencies in drivetrain components such as motors, controllers, and transmissions have enabled us to establish a strong product foundation.
Now, we are expanding into adjacent systems such as e-brakes for golf carts and value-added technologies that improve safety and performance.
Global Growth Backed by Engineering Excellence
While the LEM movement started in Asia, the market is now rapidly expanding globally, especially across Europe and the Americas.
We are leveraging our technology advantageand R&D capabilities to develop and deliver robust, cost-effective system solutions aligned with global OEM expectations.
By now, our portfolio goes far beyond just the e-motor. By integrating DC-DC converters, inverters, as well as drive & vehicle control units (DCU/VCU), we deliver system-level solutions that ensure seamless compatibility with modern EV architecture.
Agility in a Fast-Evolving Market
The Indian e-mobility market moves quickly, with short product life cycles and rapid technology shifts. To stay ahead, we’ve aligned R&D and operations for speed and flexibility – introducing Generation 2 products that deliver higher performance, optimized cost, and faster time-to-market. This evolution reflects our ability to adapt while maintaining engineering rigor and global standards.
“India has been the launchpad for our LEM success – proving that innovation and cost competitiveness can go hand in hand. With more than 400,000 motors already deployed and strong partnerships across the different LEM segments, we’re proud to challenge the old dominance of low-cost Chinese players by setting new benchmarks for quality and system integration,” says Sriraj Putraya, Chief Market Officer of LEM business area at SEG Automotive.
Our success in India has enabled us to expand globally into 4-wheeler applications and next-generation systems, many of which are already in series production. Building on this momentum, we are now entering key international markets including North America, Latin America, and China – backed by a scalable and competitive product portfolio.
Scalable Innovation: Building our Next-Gen Product Platform
Our vision for 2030 is bold and focused: to be the first-choice partner for global OEMs in light electric mobility. With a strong product foundation, in-house control technologies, and a growing international footprint.
To make this a possible, we are preparing to launch our next-generation portfolio following extensive field validation under real-world conditions – dust, rain, heat, and varied terrains. At the core is a modular platform ranging from 0.5 kW to 16 kW – giving us the flexibility to tailor solutions for diverse applications, from urban two-wheelers to heavy-duty three-wheelers and compact four-wheelers.
This expanded capability addresses growing demand for higher performance across segments while standardized designs and optimized supply chains ensure global competitiveness without compromising quality.
In parallel, we are advancing rare-earth-free motors and intelligent controllers – minimizing material dependencies and enhancing sustainability. A major milestone is the imminent launch of our in-house controller platform, which will allow us to embed proprietary software directly onto our hardware – unlocking a new level of customization, performance, and system integration.
Together, these innovations pave the way to offer fully integrated Electric Drive Systems (EDS) – reducing component count, complexity, and time-to-market for OEMs.
“We have huge potential for value-add and sustainable growth in our market –especially when it comes to electric motorbikes, a nascent but promising segment,” adds Sriraj. “Our scalable solutions and innovation roadmap make us ideally suited to lead the LEM transformation as #OneTeamOneCompany!”
